Places to Eat in Falmouth UK

As a dog-friendly hotel, we know it can be hard to find places around Cornwall where you can walk with your dog and stop for a bite to eat, especially during the summer! You’ve come all this way with man’s best friend and it seems cruel to leave them in an unfamiliar room pining for you (or ripping up the carpet, bedding or cushions).

So, we’ve compiled a list of our 5 favourite dog-friendly restaurants, pubs and cafes around Cornwall, all near beautiful walks and breathtaking scenery that our wonderful county is famed for (tested by ourselves and willing four-legged friends).

Within Falmouth there are quite a few dog-friendly restaurants and pubs. Our favourites are the downstairs of The Stable on Custom House Quay and the decking of Gylly beach café (where they provide heaters and blankets for when those cooler times in winter and evenings). Soak up Falmouth’s easy going lifestyle from these two restaurants; watch the boats coming in and out of the harbour from The Stable or watch paddle boarders from Gylly Beach Café’s decking.

About an hour’s drive from the hotel lies the beautiful sandy beach, ? Sandbar, the most dog – friendly café we’ve found in Cornwall (ask at the bar for a dog treat and your pooch will be sure to love it just as much as we do). Open all year round, it’s great for a coffee or meal after a walk or catch the famous Sunday ‘Roast on the coast’. Though the beach is not open to dogs during the summer there are still plenty of scenic walks along the cliffs and coast paths surrounding the area.

If beach bars are your thing be sure to check out The Watering Hole in Perranporth; the only bar in Britain to be built on the beach its self, watch surfers battle the north shore swells and maybe catch a local band. Unusually for a big sandy beach, Perranporth is dog-friendly year round, though there are some lead restrictions (you can find out more here).

A short drive from the hotel, along the Helford River, lies the Trelissick estate, a National Trust owned house and gardens. Though dogs are not allowed within the house or gardens, there is a scenic walk around the estate, one you can make longer if you wish to explore the hidden creeks and harbours of the Helford. On the way back toward Falmouth lies the Punchbowl and Ladle, a cosy local pub with a large dog-friendly bar area, the perfect place to stop off on your way back to the hotel.
